Influences are Great
..If they're thoroughly digested and metabolized!
I have always been open to influences in Art and in other areas. Some Artists think that influences will wreck their “originality”. That’s a fallacy. It falls under the heading of superstition. If, as I said those influences are thoroughly absorbed, digested, metabolized AND embraced with your heart and your mind just the opposite happens. The territory for your originality to bloom in grows exponentially.! If you read my BIO here in Substack You will see that my influences come from so many different sources from Art to Quantum theory, to Taoist philosophy etc. etc. etc!
Here is a case in point. These two guys. both big influences on me Separated in time by only what? about 300 years!
Ok, so who are these guys? The guy on top is the great Spanish Painter Diego Velasquez and the other one is the late Lt. Colonel, retired U.S. Army Tom Bearden. Quite a juxtaposition, isn’t it?
As I looked at Velasquez’s work over the years, i was very struck by the way he painted the very air the characters lived and breathed in. So very subtle but to it was very profound in its effect, making something very intangible like air seem palpable observable and vibrant. There is much more I could say about Velasquez but for now let’s move on to the next big influence.
Tom Bearden. After his twenty years in the Army he devoted his life to working on zero point energy i.e. free energy. I read a lot of his work on Scalar potential and creating action at a distance. But I saw a lecture of his on Video about Radionics in which he discussed The Active Vacuum. Boom! it floored me! stopped me dead in my tracks. As he explained it The Vacuum is not a vacuum at all! It is filled with forms that appear and disappear so quickly we can’t see them. they are called virtual forms only because we cant observe them. But it has been proven, they are real.
So these are two very big influences of mine. Totally digested, metabolized and taken to heart .My experience is that once these influences are completely integrated in you they take on a life of their own and in fact take on new forms in partnership with the imagination. In my case it ends up as a painting ,like this..
